John Warwick, born 4th January, 1905 and died 10th January, 1972, was an Australian actor, and television dramatist. Born as John McIntosh Beattie at Bellingen, New South Wales, Australia. He later took the name Warwick from the high school he attended.
Warwick had an extensive career over 40 years, beginning in Australian cinema in the early 1930s. In Sydney, as he was close friend of Errol Flynn, he introduced Flynn to acting by bringing him along to a casting session when "In the Wake of the Bounty" was being filmed. Later, with Warwick, Flynn would join the cast.
Relocating to England, he trained as an actor at Harrogate Theatre with the resident repertory company, The White Rose Players, afterwards moving into British cinema in the late 1930s-1940s, and television from the 1950s. In the 1960s, he returned to Australia only to do odd appearances in film and TV shows.
His most famous role was in the popular children's series, "Skippy the Bush Kangaroo" as Sir Adrian Gillespie.
