- Fargo, completely fabricated story despite the contrary claim in the movie
- The Gladiator, loosely on some real characters, while other are invented
- Rendition, story has similarities to true cases
- Braveheart, loosely based on real characters, but a large chunk made up in Hollywood
- Titanic, well, the ship did sink...
