Sadistic Horror, as defined by Rate Your Music, is "A subgenre of horror/exploitation film which features prominently sadistic scenes of violence and torture. Early examples of the style include The Wizard of Gore and The Incredible Torture Show [Bloodsucking Freaks]. The style was brought to mainstream attention in the mid-2000s with the release of films such as Saw, Hostel and Wolf Creek, all of which featuring graphic scenes of violent torture. Such films were regularly disparagingly labelled "torture porn" by the press for their sadistic content". A sub-genre of this on RYM is "Snuff Film" which on RYM means a film that tries to replicate a snuff film in a fictional setting.
