You might like to say you draw your wisdom from 'the University of Life' or the 'School of Hard Knocks', and while experience counts for a lot, you only get to live one life - one set of circumstances, one succession of choices, one single context. The reader, however, can live 1,000 lives and see through innumerable pairs of eyes - that is, if they give their time to the right books.
