These films all possess at least one rebellious central or near central female character. In addition, each selection's rebel female is either the perfect example, or an obvious precursor, of the modern 'Punk Girl' as fetishized throughout the 80s and 90s. Selections span from 1928 to 2013, with a good number of selections nestled in the late 90s when Punk's influence on the mainstream reached an apex and the demand for 'alternative women' in film was on the rise. Please note that many films have been omitted because of the peripheral nature of their rebel babes. It should also be noted that the element of the she-punk in film appears to fluctuate heavily between its comedic and tragic iterations with no clear evolution from the heart-heavy undecorated martyr to the manic-depressive apathetic amazon warrior in face paint.
