Whether it was the surprise return of Kendrick Lamar, the unexpected swan song of Ka, the long-awaited follow-up to CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST by Tyler, the Creator, the break-out masterclass from Doechii, or the career-best efforts from genre greats like E L U C I D, JPEGMAFIA, Chief Keef, ScHoolboy Q and Vince Staples, this was a terrific year for hip-hop.
