Offbeat Movie Gems
These are the movies that don't turn out to be what you expected, but in a good way. They are the ones that seem to be conventional genre pieces and then turn into something else. They are the ones about subjects you never would have thought of, or they look at the world through the wrong end of the telescope or reflected in a funhouse mirror. They are the ones that suddenly turn left when it looks like they are turning right. They are the unexpected, unconventional, and uncommon work of quirky and singular artists and craftsmen. Some are classics, some are failures that later developed cult followings, some are huge box office hits and award winners, and some are still obscure. All of them, however, are surprisingly, frustratingly ,and fascinatingly original in concept and/or execution, and all of them are worth watching.
