NOT From a Hat This Year

Three years ago, faced with an ever expanding collection of unread books, I decided on a strategy to curtail that problem. I randomly divided book names on slips, placed in several hats, to be drawn at random. I would allow myself no more purchases until I had finished three books from that years hat.
Was the strategy successful? Mostly, although each year there were always those impulse buys, those "have to read" loaned books from friends, and those gift books from fellow bookworms.
Now, I am mostly finished with those lists (no thanks to you, Mr Martin; more on that in a moment).
This years list took a few months to compile, and is based on a different method. This new method was devised in no small part by my weariness of waiting for the next installment of Mr Martin's GOT series, the anticipation of which thwarted the completion of my list each year. Participants on this site are clever; most of you should have no difficulty in discerning the impetus behind this years list.
