While many think of '80s music as all neon, fun and poppy, some forget that one of the most common themes in pop music of the era was, well, nuclear annihilation. Songs about it were pervasive and crossed all genres, because the threat of being turned into atomic ash was a real threat that was on everyone's mind, 24/7.
