I didn't want to be the 50,000th ListChallenge user to bash "We Built This City," awful as it is. Caveat: yes, I realize that choosing the 40 worst songs of all time is an act of hubris, in part because taste is subjective, in part because there have been millions of songs written throughout human history and no one can claim to have heard more than a microscopic percentage of them. That said, some of these songs go beyond annoying to pure evil. If I've insulted your favorite song, I don't apologize. If I've given you an unbearable earworm, I don't apologize. But if I inspired you to plumb the bowels of the internet to find "Booty Jones" by the German Shepherds, then I do apologize.
