New Wave Speculative Fiction - Page 3

The period 1964 to 1983 was when, according to Michael Moorcock, when science fiction rediscovered its visionary roots and its literary voice. Harlan Ellison put it more simply - the ghetto of "Sci-Fi" was left behind, replaced by S[peculative] F[iction]? At any rate, there was an explosion of new voices, fresh ideas, and stylistic experimentation that for about 20 years redefined what SF could be and paved the way for the likes of William Gibson, Neal Stephenson, China Millville, and a host of others. So here are 100 essential works of New Wave SF.
Note: While Miller's "A Canticle for Leibowitz" and Bester's "The Demolished Man " and "The Stars My Destination" predate the New Wave, they have been considered the spiritual forefathers of the movement by Moorcock, Ellison, Aldiss, and James Gunn; therefore, I have included them in this list.
