Myths, Tales & Epics of the World- Germanic & Scandinavian
- Page 4
Here's a huge list of myths & legends, fairy & folktales & epics from the Belgium, the Netherlands (of which Holland is a province, not the whole country!), Luxembourg (yes I found a book), Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland & the Sami (Lapp) people. Contrary to what some might think, Finnish & Sami are not related to the Teutonic languages, but to Hungarian, Estonian & the native languages of Siberia. Anyways, we have the Brothers Grimm, Asbjørnsen & Moe, Hans Christian Andersen, Wilhelm Hauff, E. T. A. Hoffmann & many others. There's also tons of books on the real stories of Thor, Loki, Odin & the other gods as well as many sagas. For more books & stories see tStith Thompson's The Folktale, the Index to Fairy Tales series, the blog Freebookapalooza by retired U of Oklahoma professor Laura Gibbs & the websites SurLaLunefairytales.com, WorldofTales.com, Fairytalez.com, D. L. Ashliman's Folktexts, Tormod Kinnes' Gold Scales & sacred-texts.com.
