Must Have Foods at the Cottage
- Page 2
Summer isn't complete without a week or two at the cottage (insert cabin here if that's what you call it, or camping if your shelter is either on wheels or nylon staked to the ground).
The key to eating well is flexibility. The typical pattern is a big hearty breakfast, an easy, casual lunch, and something on the grill for supper. But so many things can change; maybe you need to grab a quick breakfast to get out on the lake to fish. If the weather is bad, a day trapped indoors needs two things - snacks and comfort food. If the weather is good, lunch may be a picnic on a hike, in the boat, or on a day trip. Supper may have to come together quickly, or may arrive with successful fishermen. The menu could go exactly as planned, but probably not, so it's good to have a good variety of options, and some easy dishes ready to go.
This is a list of foods that should be staples on hand at the cottage, and a few dishes that are cottage perfect.
