MovieWeb's 15 Movies That Spoil Their Plots in the Beginning

"Foreshadowing is an important narrative tool, giving directors the ability to hint at events to come with subtle details hidden throughout a scene. This can be done in many unique ways; some examples of foreshadowing are more obscure than others, hidden away in the tiniest details or openly revealed in character narration. However, they are meant to inspire a sense of satisfaction, transforming the viewer into a sort of amateur detective that has deduced the natural direction of the plot while also giving incentive to see the film again to help put the pieces together. While most details only foreshadow singular events or plot points later in the film, some directors take the concept further. Through carefully placed details in scene dressing and dialogue, these directors manage to spoil the entire plot of the film or major plot twists at the very beginning. With that said, here are 15 of the best, most famous, or simply most interesting examples of this phenomenon." - movieweb.com
