Movies That Have Been Called "A Beautiful Mess"
In a classic example of "I don't think that means what you think it means," a new trend among film critics is the term "beautiful mess." What does it mean? Well, it differs from critic to critic, or even review to review. Generally, it seems to indicate a film is ambitious, visually stunning, or has an abundance of well-crafted parts, but lacks coherency, structure, or competent scripting to make the whole thing worthwhile.
So what do you think? Are these movies beauties, messes, or somewhere in between? Are the critics right or is the term "beautiful mess" also appealing but completely meaningless?
