Movies That Continue Where the Books Left Off

Sometimes the books just can't keep up with the demands of Hollywood. While many film adaptation take liberties with the original stories, sometimes the movies will go beyond the books entirely, using new stories, titles, and even characters to go where the printed word never ventured.
This list does not include movies that add new elements to the adaptation or that are still "loosely" based on books (even in name only). These movies use entirely new stories in order to expand on the original stories, thus continuing the franchise.
