The historic Lyric Theatre in Blacksburg, Va., where Virginia Tech is located, has been showing films to the community (not quite continuously) since 1930 though it has been closed for various reasons, including during the recent COVID-19 pandemic. When it was re-opened after a long closure in 1989 there was reportedly joy throughout the New River Valley. Within the next few days or weeks, I also hope to post a list of films I've seen at the Grandin Theatre in Roanoke, Va., now celebrating its 90th anniversary. But, for right now, the focus is on the Lyric. The first portion of this list of some 101 films will focus on films I've seen there, the remaining ones will be films that have screened there. Many of these films were released in the 1990s and 2000s. Hope you enjoy the list, and if you will live near Blacksburg, I hope you get to see a film at this jewel of a cinema.
