Movies in Shades of Grey: Great B&W Films That Wouldn't Be as Good in Color - Page 3

My nephew said at a family gathering that if a movie were in black and white he wouldn't watch it. Nothing else mattered - No color, no watch. Black and white movies were old so they should be ignored. He said, "Why would I want to watch something like that?" Here are 100 reasons - 100 movies from 1940 to the present day that could have been shot in color but thankfully weren't ( as colorization has confirmed).
NOTE: While hand-tinting and 2 color Technicolor had been around since the silents, 3 color Technicolor and other processes were not perfected until the late 1930s. By 1940, however, shooting B&W or color became a matter of choice. In the 1940s and early 1950s the choice was often budgetary, but by the late 1950s the choice was almost exclusively creative. By 1970, shooting in B& W was almost unheard of.
