Movies From the '60s-'70s That Changed Cinema
- Page 4
These two decades saw power and creativity shift from the studios to young, innovative directors, producers and writers. This is the period that shaped cinema forever after, letting directors and writers push boundaries and explore social issues. At the forefront were Francis Ford Coppola, Sam Peckinpah, Robert Altman, George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, William Friedkin, Sidney Lumet and actors who began directing including Warren Beatty, Robert Redford, Dennis Hopper and Peter Fonda. Many more contributed, as you'll see in this list. It should remind us not to go back into our shell. We shouldn't be censoring movies but we also shouldn't be mandating that certain people should play certain parts. It's acting, after all.
