Most Inaccurate Historical Fiction Per Goodreads (And Me) - Page 2

Historical fiction, by definition, stretches the truth for the sake of narrative. It's unlikely that JP Morgan invited Henry Ford to a secret meeting at his home so they could form a mystic society, as is depicted in a chapter of "Ragtime" by EL Doctorow, but at least the confabulation is based on the real historical figures' vivid and somewhat nutty personalities. The happy-go-lucky darkies and gallant Southern gentlemen of "Gone With the Wind," however, may be more the product of Miss Mitchell's imagination than anthropological research. Here are some more books which fans of the genre believe to have exceeded artistic license, plus a couple that I found just silly.
