Since I didn't want to put out any favorites-of-the-year list till I turn the last page on the last book I expect to complete before 2021, I thought it might be nice to compile the good apples out of 2015, when I began to keep a reading diary, up through 2018, the last year before I started generating data that've already been put in lists on the site.
Some of these, I have to admit, are really more books I thought good or simply enjoyed rather than those I'd describe as "my favorite reads". Favorite here means, more humbly: This is a slice of books I enjoyed or saw quality in. Uneasy straddlers might include "Vanity Fair" (very, VERY well-written book but one which was read badly), "The Fault in Our Stars" (a great voice and bravely unromanticized portrayal of disease, tho' the book's filled with the Greenish metaphorical recall that sits far too on-the-nose), and "Ghana Must Go" (meager morsels for a lot of air). Plus others. But that said, I'd recommend any of these.
Yours, -M.
