Markd9528's 200+ Classic Children's Books

This list contains just over 200 quality children's works, mostly for middle schoolers. It is not trying to be comprehensive, and see the note below. Restricted to 2 books per author, with a small number of exceptions.
Note: I know this might break your heart but there are no Harry Potter, Chronicles of Narnia, Lemony Snicket, Dr. Seuss or Louisa May Alcott books in this challenge, as they are so well represented on other lists.
The list features a healthy dose of Australian children's classics, most of them having been read by me either as a real child or an ancient child.
