Le Monde's 100 Books of the 20th Century - Page 2

I wanted to see another country's perspective of the top 100 books of the 20th century, and fortunately found this list from Le Monde, the French paper-of-record and one of the most respected newspapers in the world. Here is a brief description of how the list, which is ranked as below, was compiled: Starting from a preliminary list of 200 titles created by bookshops and journalists, 17,000 French participants responded to the question, "Which books have stuck in your mind?". The list is not meant to encompass the 100 most distinguished French literary works of the 20th century, but rather to reflect the emotional connections of the French populace.
