These were the most populous cities in the U.S. in the year 1830, the year of the fifth U.S. Census. This was the first decade in which a midwestern city (Cincinnati) made the top 10. The actual #7 and #10, Northern Liberties Township and Southwark, were incorporated into Philadelphia in 1854, so #11 and #12, Washington, D.C. and Providence, move into the top 10 on this list.
