Largest U.S. Cities (1790)

These were the ten most populous cities in the U.S. in 1790, the year of the first U.S. Census. For the purposes of this list (and the ones to follow), I've excluded the actual #6, Northern Liberties Township, as well as another #10, Southwark (which was tied with Marblehead); both Northern Liberties Township and Southwark were incorporated into Philadelphia in 1854. As a result, the next most populous city that still exists, Gloucester, moves into the #10 spot.
