Romeo Void was an new wave/post-punk band from San Francisco formed in 1979. The band consisted of saxophonist Ben Bossi, vocalist Debora Iyall, guitarist Peter Woods & bassist Frank Zincavage. The band went thru 4 drummers & released 3 albums, It's a Condition, Benefactor & Instincts, along with 1 EP. They're best known for the songs "Never Say Never" & "A Girl in Trouble (Is a Temporary Thing)"; the latter a Top 40 hit. The band was started at the SF Art Institute by Iyall & Zincavage. They released a single on a local label before recording their debut album, which has been deemed a "masterpiece of American post-punk". The success of the next release, an EP, Never Say Never led to a deal w/Columbia. The band continued to record & tour until breaking up in 1985. RV have reunited briefly over the years and Iyall garnered acclaim as a skilled lyricist exploring themes of sexuality & alienation from a female perspective with searing imagery.
