Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta (born 3/28/86) a.k.a. Lady Gaga, is a US singer, songwriter known for image reinventions & musical versatility. She began performing as a teen, singing at open mics, and in school plays. She studied at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, before dropping out to pursue music. After DefJam canceled her contract, she worked as a songwriter for Sony/ATV where she signed a joint deal with Interscope and Akon's label, in 2007. Gaga rose to fame the next year with her debut album, The Fame, and its chart-toppers "Just Dance" & "Poker Face". The EP The Fame Monster (2009), yielded the hits "Bad Romance", "Telephone" & "Alejandro". Her next 5 albums all debuted atop the US Charts. Her second full-length album, Born This Way (2011), explored electro-rock & techno-pop and sold more than a million copies in its first week.
