Depeche Mode are an English electronic band formed in 1980. The group is a trio of Dave Gahan, Martin Gore & Andy Fletcher. DM released their debut album, Speak & Spell, in 1981, bursting onto the British new wave scene. The band's last albums of the '80s, Black Celebration & Music for the Masses, made them a dominant force within the electronic scene. The band's June 1988 Rose Bowl concert drew >60,000 people. In early 1990, they released Violator, an international success. 1993's Songs of Faith and Devotion, was also a hit. DM have had 54 songs in the UK Chart and 17 Top 10 albums. They've sold >100 million records worldwide. Q included the band in its list the "50 Bands That Changed the World!" DM also rank No. 98 on VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of All Time". In December 2016, Billboard named DM the 10th Greatest All Time Top Dance Club Artist. They were nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017 and 2018, and were inducted in 2020.
