Japanese Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films by Stuart Galbraith IV - Page 2

Japanese Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films: A Critical Analysis of 103 Features Released in the United States, 1950-1992 by Stuart Galbraith IV (McFarland, 1993) was one of the earliest books of its kind with much information appearing newly in English. This list includes the 103 films reviewed (including several alternate cuts) through #107, followed by alphabetical listings in studio filmographies (with tangential films): Daiei (108-138), Nikkatsu (including some infamous "pink films", 139-144), Shintoho (145-166), Shochiku (167-186), Toei (187-230), Toho (231-269), Tsuburaya (270-271), and miscellaneous (271-294). Galbraith listed four films twice (Computer Free-for-All and Man from Planet Alpha have since been determined to be the same film; Yongary is listed under Toei and miscellaneous, (Shogun's) Joys of Torture and Violated Angels. Most of the main text covers kaiju eiga, as many of the ghost (yurei) and other horror films were not then released in the United States.
