Itsy Bitsy Green Berets: The Lamest #1 Singles of the 1960s
Wow, man, the 1960s just ruled, man! That's when the music mattered, baby . . . the Beatles, the Stones, Dylan, Tommy James and the Shondells . . . wait, didn't Tommy James kinda suck? Yes, he sure did. And he frequently outsold and outcharted all those perennial "Rolling Stone" cover boys in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The Monkees outsold the Beatles in the year of "Sgt. Pepper" and while a half-million hippie idealists heralded the Age of Aquarius at Woodstock, millions upon millions more were tuning in the AM apocalypse of "In the Year 2525." So please, don't let some cranky old Baby Boomer brag about how brilliant the music of his generation was; sure, the musical heights of the 60's were stratospheric, but the absolute dregs, much of which sold in fantastic numbers, make the latest Bieber single sound like Beethoven.
