The advent of the nuclear age, the flying saucer flap, and Cold War paranoia all contributed to an explosion of science fiction films during the 1950s. With very few exceptions, they were B movies churned out quickly; some were surprisingly good, while most were awful. They did, however, set the tone for a time now gone, and they laid the groundwork for the SF mega-films of today. Here, from the sublime to the ridiculous, are 139 of them, plus 2 examples from 1950s TV.
