Prolific madman Takashi Miike has made over a hundred films spanning various genres. But some strands unite everything like kinetic energy, dark humour, and a love for the most marginalised people in society. Here, I've cobbled together films that either reflect that, are Miike-influenced, or that just generally will likely be enjoyed by any Miike fan. Others I think may have been influential on his style, whether directly or indirectly.
There are also a few films Miike remade (Thirteen Assassins, Graveyard of Honor, etc.) and ones I think that are perfect companion pieces (The Quiet Family with The Happiness of the Katakiruis or The Good, the Bad, and the Weird with Sukiyaki Western Django).
Anyway. Enjoy! (No idea how I accidentally put Shallow Grave in there, but whatever)
