Not on My Bucket List

A lifetime of looking at maps and reading travel guides hasn't diminished my wanderlust. I have spent hours devising travel and trips. But there are places which I now know I shall probably or even certainly never visit: either because they are not safe (Somalia, Libya) or because they are too remote/expensive (Kerguelen Islands, Tristan da Cunha) or because at my age I have lost interest (Alaska, Laos) or because I'd simply never get permission (Mecca, Plymouth).
