History and Historical Fiction Books That Are Not Romances

I love to read history and historical fiction, mainly of antiquity, medieval and renessaince times. This is a list of books that I have read or want to read.
I have noticed that newly published "historical fiction" books are overwhelmingly romances set in historical times. I do not like this trend. Much of the nonfiction books below contain no romance at all. Some fiction might, but they do not focus on it.
I use "historical" somewhat loosely. I have included books that would be qualified as a different genre, but contain important historical events, set in a historical time, or present their subject as a history.
