Guru Dutt is one of most important filmmaker in Indian film industry after Satyajit Ray & Ritwik Ghatak
in his short career he directed 8 movies and produced several movies and also acted in those movies.
I am ranking those movies in list from best to worst
out of 8, Sailaab (1956) is lost movie according to many sources. so it isn't here in list.
although he directed 7 movies, I am including movies produced by him, as according to some critics and film scholars, he ghost-directed them (not sure how true is that, I guess we will never find truth) but I am still adding them here.
if you want just see his best work, just watch #1 to #3, no need to watch others
#4 to #6 are quite good but not masterpiece, yet entertaining
#7 to #10 are from just ok to terrible. no need to watch them, if you don't see all his movies.
PS: songs in his films were always great and timeless classics and still loved by that era's generation and also by today's generation
