Girl's Guide to Good Movies: 1933

This is a series based on my earlier list A Girl's Guide to Good Movies (https://www.listchallenges.com/girls-guide-to-good-movies). For this list I chose 40 movies per year that portray women in an interesting light. Some years are extremely difficult when women are relegated to being eye candy without thought or motivation (the 1970's were especially unkind). Luckily, there's always the heyday of Hollywood when vehicles were created specifically for their biggest box office stars. Mae West, Katherine Hepburn, Kay Francis, Ruby Keeler, Carole Lombard, Jean Harlow, Greta Garbo, and even Betty Boop... thank you for existing in all your complex glory.
