Four Books, American Literature Edition - Page 3

Not intended to be representative of anything but my own experience. I realize this list is overwhelmingly white, straight and male, but for most of our history, that's what got published, which makes the inclusion of James Baldwin and Toni Morrison in the American canon an even greater tribute to their brilliance. And yes, it could probably use more First Nations authors, here's hoping that late 2029 lists of "Best Books of the Decade" include lots of Louise Erdrich, Tommy Orange and Brandon Hobson. The Proud Boys won't be happy, but who wants the Proud Boys to be happy?
