Foreign-Language Oscar Submissions From Argentina - Page 2

Though Argentina only became a regular submitter to the Oscar's with 1974's "The Truce", they first entered in 1961 with "Summer Skin". Argentinian films have been nominated 7 times (most recently with "Wild Tales") & won twice with "The Official Story" & the original version of "The Secret in Their Eyes". All films are in Spanish, & Argentina is the only South American country to win the Oscar for Best Foreign-Language Film. One film was animated-"Manuelita", but at the time the Animated Feature category did not exist. A surprise was the fact the thriller "Nine Queens" was not submitted.
