Foreign-Language Films Oscar Didn't Like 1956-1995
- Page 2
What do Ingmar Bergman, Akira Kurosawa, Satyajit Ray, Werner Herzog, Federico Fellini & Pedro Almodovar all have in common? All were passed over one or more times by the Best Foreign-Language Film Oscar committee. Films like "The Seventh Seal" & "Persona", "Wings of Desire", "The World of Apu" Fellini's "Roma"-all deemed not worthy of competing for that famous statue. Now many of these films are forgotten today, but like the above, the Academy has made some head-scratching decisions. The Russian film "Come & See(Idi i Smotri)" is a powerful film on many must-see lists, but apparently the original French version of "3 Men & a Baby" was more worthy. Then there were their ridiculous reasons for excluding the original version of "The Vanishing" & "Three Colors:Red". Most countries of the world are listed here at some point-Canada, Iceland,Israel, Switzerland, Peru, South Korea, Albania, Morocco, Egypt,The Philppines, etc. Flag of submitting used when picture not available to download.
