Aki Kaurismäki's Lights in a Dusk is about a lonely security guard told in a classic Kaurismäki way, The Man Who Sleeps is a masterpiece of a film made by Georges Perec based on his own book of the same name and follows a lonely French man in his 20s in Paris. The whole films is narrated in a form an essay with strong themes of alienation and loneliness. La Pointe-Courte is Agnes Varda's decent debut following the lives of a couple and fishermen in a remote village. Beanpole is a spectacular war film about two friends searching find meaning together. This Boy'S Life is a coming of age story following a boy who is abused by his step father. Brian De Palma's Obsession is a story about a man who lost his family in a accident which story closely resembles Hitchcock's Vertigo. The House is a three part anthology film following lives of puppets, rats and cats with themes of wealth, madness and obsession. Finally, Kim Ki Duk's Housemaid is a classic korean film that was really terrifying.
