Film as History

This is a list of films mentioned in Shlomo Zand's book Film as History.
These are not necessarily films that represent history accurately, or even films that pretend to inform the viewer about history (see, for example, Terminator), but rather these are films that can be examined to see the way cinema reflects important chapters in world history in the 20th century.
The subjects these films touch are varied and include such topics as democracy, fascism, Nazism, the holocaust, cold war and colonialism.
