She began acting as a child, with early roles in The Amityville Horror (2005), the series Desperate Housewives (2006–07), the films The Eye (2008), The Poker House (2008), 500 Days of Summer (2009) & Diary of a Wimpy Kid (2010). Her breakthru came in 2010 with her role as Hit-Girl in Kick-Ass and as a child vampire in Let Me In. Moretz starred in Scorsese's Hugo (2011), Tim Burton's Dark Shadows (2012), the sitcom 30 Rock (2011-2013), Kick-Ass 2 (2013) & Carrie (2013). Moretz starred in the award-winning Clouds of Sils Maria (2014), If I Stay (2014), The Equalizer (2014), Dark Places (2015), The 5th Wave (2016) & Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising (2016). In 2016, Moretz announced she was re-assessing her choice of roles & was dropping out of some projects.
