Paul Edward Valentine Giamatti (/ˌdʒiːəˈmɑːti/; born June 6, 1967) is an American actor/producer. He first garnered attention for his role in Private Parts (1997) as Kenny "Pig Vomit" Rushton, which led him to more supporting roles such as Sergeant William Hill in Saving Private Ryan (1998), Bob Zmuda in Man on the Moon (1999), John Maxwell in Big Momma's House (2000), and Marty Wolf in Big Fat Liar (2002). He won acclaim as Harvey Pekar in American Splendor (2003) and also starred in Sideways (2004), Win Win (2011) and Private Life (2018), while continuing to play supporting roles in films like Cinderella Man (2005), which earned him a nomination for the Best Supporting Actor Oscar, The Illusionist (2006), Shoot 'Em Up (2007), Fred Claus (2007), The Ides of March (2011), 12 Years a Slave (2013), Saving Mr. Banks (2013), Love & Mercy (2014), San Andreas (2015) and Straight Outta Compton (2015).
