Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger (/ˈʃvɑːrtsnɛɡər/; German: [ˈaʁnɔlt ˈʃvaʁtsn̩ˌʔɛɡɐ]; born 7/30/1947) is an Austrian-American actor, producer, businessman, bodybuilder, and politician who served as governor of California. As a teen he began lifting weights and went on to win the Mr. Universe title at age 20, subsequently winning Mr. Olympia 7 times; he remains a bodybuilding icon. After bodybuilding, Arnold gained fame as a Hollywood action star. Having previously appeared in the bodybuilding documentary Pumping Iron (1977), his breakthru was Conan the Barbarian (1982), a big hit that led to a 1984 sequel. He then appeared in the critical & commercial hit The Terminator (1984) and has similar roles in its sequels. He starred in more hit action pics like Commando (1985), The Running Man (1987), Predator (1987), Total Recall (1990) & True Lies (1994), in addition to comedies Twins (1988), Kindergarten Cop (1990), Junior (1994) & Jingle All the Way (1996).
