Feminist Utopias in Literature

Feminist Utopian literature first gained notoriety in the early 20th century, depicting idealized societies where women ruled their own worlds, sometimes at the complete exclusion of men. These works inspired William Marston, who created Wonder Woman and the Amazon paradise of Themyscira.
As the third wave of feminism emerged from the problems of the second, more authors began reinterpreting and reimaging the feminist utopian narrative, discussing its positives and negatives, while still yearning for a world of female dignity and equality in all facets of life.
