Edith Head Filmography
Over the course of her sixty year career, costumer Edith Head received 35 Academy Award nominations, annually from 1949 (the first year an Oscar for Best Costume Design was awarded) through 1966. She won eight times – more Oscars than any other woman. Edith Head, unlike her male contemporaries, consulted extensively with her female stars during the design process. As a result, she was a favorite to leading ladies of the 1940s and 1950s, such as Ginger Rogers, Bette Davis, Barbara Stanwyck, Shirley MacLaine, Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, and Elizabeth Taylor. She was famous for her ability to hide flaws and upsell assets.
