Contemporary Werewolf Novels (1968-1994)

This list was compiled by Don D'Ammassa in the special werewolf issue of The Scream Factory, #15, Autumn 1994. The article was called "The Rest of the Pack" (John Brower chose the best werewolf novels in the preceding article, and Laurence Bush covered older lycanthropic literature in another one). Mr. D. rated them by fangs.
4 Fangs (greatly underrated; a classic worth tracking down): 2, 9, 16, 24, 31, 49, 52, 66, 77, 79, 92.
3 Fangs (has its moments, though not a classic): 1, 4, 5, 18, 20, 22, 25-28, 34-37, 41, 43, 47, 53, 54, 57, 61-64, 69, 70, 72, 73, 80-83, 86, 87, 89, 90.
2 Fangs (not overtly bad, but why bother?): 7, 10, 14, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23, 30, 32, 38-40, 42, 46, 47, 49, 54, 55, 57-59, 64, 67, 73-75, 77, 83, 84.
1 Fang (a waste of good paper): 3, 6, 11-13, 29, 33, 44, 71, 88.
Special rating of Zero Fangs: The Werewolf vs. Vampire Woman.
No ratings for 45, 51, 67, or 91; he hadn't been able to obtain them.
