Comics of the 1970s - Page 9

The 1970's was both a wonderful and turbulent time for comic books. At the start of the decade you had a loosening of the Comics Code, which led to a wave of new horror titles coming back onto the market. And while superheroes still reigned supreme in sales, science fiction and fantasy also saw a renaissance during this decade, with many comics outselling their superhero neighbors on the comic rack. But by mid-decade an implosion was to follow - a recession led to dozens of comics being cancelled. But overseas things were looking bright, with many creative favorites in Europe and Japan getting their start in this decade.
