Cinephile 101: The Basics in Noir

Cinephile 101 is a cinephile/film buff list series, aiming to cover a diverse range of different areas that anyone who claims this distinction should really know their stuff in.
In this entry of the series, we're looking at film noir movies, specifically the basics that every fan of the genre should watch to obtain a solid grounding knowledge of what's out there. This means both the original movies from the 1940s and 50s and later neo-noirs and other varients.
