Canada's Genie Awards:2000-2012
The last Genies. From movie versions of Red Green & Trailer Park Boys to Oscar winning French films, all sorts of titles. As well as actors-Ryan "Deadpool" Reynolds, Wesley Snipes, Leslie Nielsen, Jay Baruchel, the late, great Alan Rickman, even so-called "refugee" Randy Quaid have films here. Great actresses too-Ellen Page, Sigourney Weaver, actress/director Sarah Polley & zombie-killer Milla Jovovich are amongst familiar faces here. We even have films in Inuktitut & Hindi. After 2012 the Genies became the Canadian Screen Awards. Note to Oscars' Academy-if you want more diversity, make the major awards for AMERICAN & American co-productions only. How many other countries let foreign films eligible for Best Picture(I think BAFTA might, could thankfully be wrong). Meant to have this done for Canada Day 2016, oh well, better late than never.
